2018  Event  Itinerary


Reception in County Hall Portlaoise at 7:30 p.m


Today’s run will see us travel across the Slieve Blooms to Birr Castle, ancestral home of the Parsons family. There is a €6 entry per car to the demesne but there is also parking in the town next to the Castle for those who do not wish to enter. It also is the home of The Great Telescope built in the early 1840’s, the Third Earl of Rosse it was the largest telescope in the world. There is a small café but the town of Birr features many pubs and cafes, if you don’t bring your own lunch.

Assembly at Treacy’s, The Heath, Portlaoise at 10:30 – rally will commence no later than 11:00 a.m.

Gala Dinner, Saturday Night 8 p.m. (If you do not have a ticket and decide that you want one please ask one of the committee. 


After assembling at Treacy’s, The Heath, Portlaoise, we will drive the original Gordon Bennett Route. The run will start at 11:00 a.m. There will be a number of stops and refreshments en route. The run ends at the Gandon Inn for presentation of plaques and Driver’s dinner (extra dinner tickets are available)


The Leisure Run. Today we will leave Treacy’s, The Heath, Portlaoise and head to Brian King’s Classic Car exhibition in the town of Naas. There will be a BBQ at Treacy’s for those of you who are staying with us for the full day.
